The Hay House Miracle....

A number of years ago, I received a call from "out of the blue" from the publishing giant Hay House.

I had already written several books, and had just finished the manuscript for a new book on the spiritual path.

The call was soon to turn my life in a whole new direction.

Here's the story, enjoy, and keep the faith.

This can happen to you as well.

If we believe. And do the work.

It's time, to Slow Down..................

IT'S TIME TO SLOW DOWN

One of the biggest lessons that I've learned (correct that . . . am still learning) from the Buddhist culture is mindfulness, a slowing down of our daily activities so that we can be fully present in all that we do. Our daily lives can be so full of activity that we can easily forget what we had for lunch two hours after eating it! The Dalai Lama, Thich Nhat Hanh and other great teachers have been spreading the message surrounding mindfulness for years. Now it is up to you and me to slow down and be "present" in all that we do. Become mindful of your next kiss . . . go slowly . . . of your next meal . . . eat slowly . . . slow down.

DOING THE DISHES by Thich Nhat Hanh, Buddhist monk from "Sunshine and Green Leaves" Peace Is Every Step: The Path of Mindfulness in Everyday Life

“To my mind, the idea that doing dishes is unpleasant can occur only when you aren't doing them. I enjoy taking my time with each dish, being fully aware of the dish, the water, and each movement of my hands. I know that if I hurry in order to go and have a cup of tea, the time will be unpleasant and not worth living. That would be a pity, for each minute, each second of life is a miracle. Each bowl I wash, each poem I compose, each time I invite a bell to sound is a miracle, and each has exactly the same value. If I am incapable of washing dishes joyfully, if I want to finish them quickly so I can go have a cup of tea, I will be equally incapable of drinking the tea joyfully. With the cup in my hands I will be thinking about what to do next, and the fragrance and the flavor of the tea, together with the pleasure of drinking it, will be lost. I will always be dragged into the future, never able to live in the present moment.”

What do you REALLY want? The Aladdin Factor

So, what do you really, really want out of life? What would make your heart sing? Have you seriously asked for what you desire, as they describe the process so beautifully in the book "The Aladdin Factor"?

Too many of us have high hopes for our love life, financial situation or our bodies, yet just never get around to asking the right people for the help they need. Watch this short video to see what I mean.

Slow down, for the sagely advice given in this amazing book, and watch your life change.

Success: From clean shoes, a clean car? Watch.

Can success in life be the end result of wearing clean polished shoes and having a clean car? What in the world can these two things have to do with personal success?

We often put too much emphasis on the BIG things in life when it comes to generating the energy to attract new levels of success to us. Watch this short video to see what I mean.

Slow down, take care of the seemingly little things in life, and watch your sense of success grow.

Yoga for weight loss, stress reduction and more!

YOGA for weight loss, stress reduction and more!

Exercise to many means drudgery. Running, swimming and lifting weights have captured the hearts of the exercise addicts, but as of today only 30% of our population exercises often enough to receive health benefits. Yoga's rising popularity, though, may help encourage more people to begin taking care of their minds and bodies all at once. According to a Yoga Journal/Roper Poll, six million people currently practice Yoga and another seventeen million respondents say they are very interested in participating in this activity.

Fitness expert and video star Kathy Smith believes in totality, the power of Yoga. A practitioner for 24 years, she began using Yoga as a way to add balance and flexibility to her long distance running workouts in college. Consisting of deep breathing exercises, combined with particular poses (asanas) that are held from 25 seconds to 5 minutes each, Yoga embraces both relaxation and strengthening exercise to challenge the mind and body simultaneously. Listed below are Kathy's top eight benefits for people of any age who regularly participate in Yoga:

  • Reduction of stress and anxiety.
  • Feeling of being centered, focused.
  • Increase in muscle flexibility, decrease in lower back discomfort.
  • Increase in muscle definition, tone.
  • Reduction in injuries due to sports, exercise programs.
  • Increase in mobility as we age.
  • Better sleep patterns.
  • Increase in emotional bonding for couples.

Kathy also found some of the benefits of Yoga surprising to her. For instance, Yoga assisted in the delivery of her children, enhanced her own feeling of sensuality, helps her to stay calm in raising her children, and increases her energy levels and immune system functioning. She believes that anyone can benefit from Yoga by participating at least three days per week for 10 minutes each day. Her newest video Yoga Basics is the perfect match for the beginner.

In my book "Slow Down: The fastest way to get everything you want", Hay House, I tell the story of a top television producer who finally lost the weight he desired, after years of failed diets and exercise programs, through a 1 hour per day yoga routine!

If you are interested in any or all of the aforementioned benefits, this may be the perfect time to give Yoga a try. Open your mind to the potential that lies within this ancient practice and start enjoying the results immediately. Choose a class or video that is congruent with your current level of physical conditioning, as Yoga can be a gentle "walk in the park" or an extremely challenging form of mind/body exercise. If you are over 40 or currently have any health concerns, check with your physician before beginning any exercise program.

For more information on Yoga, check out the American Yoga Association web site.

Are Men All Dogs? A Shocking Truth about Love

This story was told in my book "Slow Down", but it came up the other day for the 1,000 time in a session with a client, so I wanted to share the truth about the belief many women have: Men are all dogs.

I laugh as I write this, not from a condescending way, but more so from the perspective that our beliefs truly run our lives. If you are a woman, who desires love with a partner, watch this asap.

Slow down to examine your true beliefs about love and men, then change those that are truly not serving you.

The Benefits of Slowing Down Today

Our world continues to evolve at lightening speed, yet there are huge benefits to acting today in the opposite fashion when we slow down.

Slow down. Yes, slow down.

As you drive through your city, look for sights you have not noticed before. Listen for birds singing.

As you look at your partner today, stare into their eyes with no words spoken. As you kiss, feel the softness of their lips and hold that in your mind, heart and soul.

As someone speaks to you, put your full attention on each word, then repeat their statement to them.

Look into the mirror for 60 seconds, and feel gratitude for all that you are, the unique expression of the universal divine, wrapped in you, as only you can do it.

Slow down.

Slow Down...The Power in Doing Less

This blog will be amazingly short.

Today, right now, simply slow down and follow your breath.

Every time you inhale, notice the sacred breath that is keeping you alive.

Do the same as you exhale.

Notice the sacredness of this very moment. Love, peace, David Essel www.talkdavid.com
