Ask David": Quit smoking? David Essel Alive! XM Talk Radio

Ask David: From David Essel Alive! XM satellite radio show:

Q. You have talked on the show about how to quit smoking, and I never paid attention until now, because it is really time to quit. My boyfriend just left me, because he was disgusted with my habit. Please help.

A.  First, google in your state "800 quit smoking program", as many states offer free help! It is a perfect first step. Find a Nicotine Anonymous meeting near you or online for more help.  90% of successful non smokers do it by asking for help from others. When you feel the craving for a smoke, sit in it, and journal the emotions that you feel. Last, use a Gaba supplement like gaba-calm or gabatrol to help ease the anxiety. Nicotine is a powerful anti anxiety drug.   Here's a video that will help as well.

Quit Smoking Now: the Holistic Way,

Many people who try to quit smoking fail over and over, and eventually give up, yet if they were following a holistic program, they could be smoke free today.

Will power will never be enough. The patch or gum will never be enough.

Quitting for good must encompass both physical and emotional recovery, based on holistic principles.

Enjoy the video as we give you an idea of what that means.

You or a friend could become a non smoker in a very short period of time if you just had the correct system to follow. we can give you that.

So, you've just messed up your recovery program, you had a slip. Maybe it was a drink, a cigarette ....a spending spree......a walk back into drug use. Maybe you ate in secrecy again, or vomited up your last meal.

The question now is, what do you do? and, what do you do with the quilt associated with a slip up?

Watch, we can begin to help you with this short video.

Taking action today is the key to getting back on track.

Your "Someday" is today...Success is now

So many people come to me with the same statements regarding success..."someday I'm going to really get into shape...quit smoking...save more money..find the love of my life...deepen my connection with God...create a better relationship with my children..." And the lists go on.

The illusion that we carry is our reality. And for most of us, all of the statements above are illusions, because we'll never, ever do them.

If you want success, love, money, freedom from addiction, God....Go after these goals RIGHT NOW! Your someday is either today, or trust me....never.

After 24 years in the business of helping others, and myself, become more successful, happier, and filled with peace, I know that if you do nothing about your desires to change today, there is a dam good chance you will do nothing tomorrow as well.

Success comes from doing, not simply planning.

So, make the call, get the help you need.

Slow down for success....and act...today.

New Years Resolution ...Solution

Year after year, I've heard the same desires being stated by both men and women from around the USA. "How can I finally find a solution to my New Years Resolutions?"

It seems a common theme. We have a tendency to repeat every year the same resolutions, maybe with a slightly different twist, but in essence the same ones.

"I'm going to...lose weight, quit smoking, save more money and enhance my relationships."

One of the biggest problems we face in regards to New Years Resolutions, is that we select more than one.

This year, let's get serious, let's become successful, and let's start by choosing just one goal to go after.

Choose the one you've been procrastinating on, the one that seems to pop up year after year.

The one, that as you read this you do not really want to go after. Yeah, that one.

The one, that once you are on the path to accomplishing, will offer the greatest benefits in your entire life.

The one that will force you to ask someone else to help you with.

Yeah, that one.

Now, in writing, set a path, specific, with a timeline, that you will hold yourself accountable to.

Hire a therapist, coach, trainer, nutritionist, minister...........................find someone with experience to help you.

Go to 12 step meetings, do whatever it is that makes you vulnerable, uncomfortable. Whatever you need to do that scares the hell out of you...just do it.

Make 2009 the year of YOU.

Get enthusiastic every day, force it at first if you must, but get excited. Let your passion sink into your being as you mentally see yourself successful in this goal.

Slow down.

Let's really do it this year.
