The Exodus in Our Own Lives…

Last week my sermon centered around the celebration of Passover, as we examine the power of all faiths in our Sunday services.

If you recall, it’s the story of how Moses, through his great faith, led the Hebrews out of bondage in Egypt to total freedom. But this did not occur without great trials and tribulations.

The most interesting part of the story to me was when after finally being free, they spent 40 days and 40 nites wandering …not sure where they were going..and came upon the Red Sea. Just at that moment, they look behind them to see the Egyptian army coming to kill them. Moses was instructed to tap his staff on the water..and the sea parts. After safely getting to the other side, and the army in hot pursuit, he taps his staff again and the sea rushes in, consuming the army and saving his people.

Now, why do I find that the most interesting part of the story? If we look at our own lives, we might just see that we’ve been in bondage as well, and sometimes for many many years. Bondage that occurs from staying in an unhealthy relationship…or struggling with an addiction to food, spending, alcohol, sex, nicotine, prescription or street drugs……..or even bondage created by our own thoughts that tell us we are not enough today…nor will we ever be!!

We need our own personal exodus…and it needs to begin today.

Think about this..after years of slavery, the Jewish people were finally freed, or so they thought, and after JUST 40 DAYS, they truly were free at last.

If you and I put our attention on freeing ourselves from that which holds us back, in 40 days or less we could be free too!

But we have to want to be free, and then we need to look outside ourselves, to our faith, our friends, and more ..and ask for help.

Your own personal exodus from the pain of the past…or present..could be history if you choose to make it so.

Emotion and weight loss………..

When we think of losing weight, or decreasing body fat, many people are under the assumption that if they just eat less and exercise more the weight should fly off.

It’s not that simple.

A part of the equation that I”ve seen as critical in the hundreds of people I’ve coached to a healthier, slimmer, stronger body is the release of emotions tied to an event in their past.

It could be a past partner they have not forgiven, how they were treated as a child, or not treated…. or the loss of a love realtionship that they thought would last forever……it could even be the simple, yet challenging fact of letting go and forgiving themselves for something they did in the past.

It all comes down to a simple phrase: when we release the past pain, when we begin to heal our emotional hurts, the weight begins to come off…… If, it’s combined with a great diet and regular and effective exercise program.

The excess weight in many cases is protection we hold onto so as not to be hurt again.

Many women I’ve worked with finally came to the realization that their fear of being hurt in love again was a reason they subconsciously held on to extra body weight. If they were less desirable they surmised , they would decrease the amount of men who might be interested in them, and hence not have to get hurt again.

One client found the power in this step in an unexpected way. As she released her past judgements against men, and herself, and began a great eating and exercise program, men started making wonderful advances towards her way before she had reached her ideal weight!…Amazing!

Slow down. Achieve your desires by releasing the past.

Your Sacredness……….Yes, Within You….

Hi..This is a very personal blog, written just for you. Yes, the you who is reading this, who is open to these words. The you who knows what you are reading is the ablsolute truth.

You are sacred.

Let’s read that again together, even out loud.

When was the last time your conscious mind acknowledged this?…Hmmmmm…I have to wonder.
For many of us it has been a very , very long time. But that all ends today.

You are sacred, more sacred than you know.

Let’s repeat……

“I Am Sacred.”

Don’t try to read into this, simply accept it…for it is the truth.

Try, if you will, to repeat this one line every morning…….

“I Am Sacred. “

And, watch your world change.

Slow Down.

Wishing you Love, Peace, David
