Q.  I need ideas to help with my sugar cravings at night, and my boyfriend craves alcohol too. Ideas?

A. Both sugar and alcohol cravings can be greatly diminished through the use of the amino acid glutamine. 

Take a 1,000 milligram capsule and empty the powder under your tongue before the onset, or at the onset of your cravings for sugar or a drink. Q. How do I know, if all of the positive thinking I do, will lead to success?

A. Awesome question!!!!  Here's the simple answer: If your affirmations etc. are leading you to take new action steps to your goals, on a daily basis, your stuff is working. If this positive thinking is going on daily, but you are not taking any new steps, it won't hurt you, but it may barely help. These steps have to lead to new action,  which means, in the beginning, it may be uncomfortable, and that is ok. Success will then be yours.

A. The definition we have used for over 15 years is: An addiction is any thought, substance or behavior that we return to , even though it is not healthy, or it does not serve us in the best way possible. This means thoughts or words like gossip, negative thinking, any substance including food, smoking, alcohol, drug abuse,  behaviors like sex or perfectionism or trying to rescue/save people, spending money we really do not have, ......the list is really quite large, this is just a start.

Q. You have talked on the show about how to quit smoking, and I never paid attention until now, because it is really time to quit. My boyfriend just left me, because he was disgusted with my habit. Please help.

A.  First, google in your state "800 quit smoking program", as many states offer free help! It is a perfect first step. Find a Nicotine Anonymous meeting near you or online for more help.  90% of successful non smokers do it by asking for help from others. When you feel the craving for a smoke, sit in it, and journal the emotions that you feel. Last, use a Gaba supplement like gaba-calm or gabatrol to help ease the anxiety. Nicotine is a powerful anti anxiety drug.   Here's a video that will help as well.
